In April a late freeze hit Hood County, and with frustration Fall Creek Farms will not be opening for upick peaches this year. This is the second year a late frost is to blame has been blamed for the lack of peach production.

Peach farmers in parts of Texas have confirmed that the frost on April 7th killed nearly all of the blossoms that had already popped out on the trees. This included the blooms on our blackberries.

The impact of the peach industry on Texas' economy is about 39 million dollars, according to agriculture statistics. Forty percent of the state's peach crop is grown in Gillespie County, and the growers there were faced with the same result from the weather conditions in April.

Yes, we will try it again next year, with a little favor we hope the cold fronts will stay to the North of I 20.

Our 2009 strawberry season yield was on target and the plants looked better than ever! The taste gets better with each passing year. Soon we will be planning for our 2010 crop, and will add the knowledge gained from this year.

We thank you for your support. We will continue to work hard despite the challenges that nature continues throw at us - like a Nolan Ryan fastball!

Warmest regards,

Cullen Crisp
